Origin

​

• Indira Gandhi Polytechnic College, Mahe established under PIPMATE, Puducherry in October 2000 was initially named as Mahe Polytechnic,Mahe.

​​

​

• Govt. of Puducherry has renamed the institution as Indira Gandhi Polytechnic College, Mahe.

​​

​

• The college was functioning temporarily in Rajiv Gandhi Govt. ITI campus from 19.10.2000 to 20.08.2012.

​​

​

• The college has shifted to its own campus at Pondayat Kunnu, Chalakkara, Mahe, Post New Mahe from 21.08.2012.

History

• Govt. of Puducherry had acquired land to the extent of 04.16 Acre at Chalakkara, Mahe for construction of new building for the institution.

​​

​

• The construction of the building was entrusted with the Public Works Department, Mahe.

​​

​

• The new building was formally inaugurated on 08.01.2011.
